A significant part of our corporate philosophy has been to develop a specialist approach within the context of an insurance brokerage firm. Many insurance brokerage and consulting firms have taken the opposite approach, which is to say that they attempt to broaden their areas of service, ‘becoming all things to all people’. However, that approach is not ideal, and to borrow an old cliché, companies who try to become the jack of all skills usually are defined as being the masters of none. The insurance world is constantly changing, and a broad approach makes it hard to keep up. We know that our focus is health and travel insurance, and we continually strive to be the best in our field.
To do this we stay current and in touch with those companies that are on the cutting edge of the health care industry. This means regular review of insurance company practices coupled with a consistent review of developing product lines and changes in this fast-paced industry. We also make it our practice to stay on top of the changes to the provincial healthcare schemes, and many of the immigration laws, in order to provide the most accurate and informative advice possible.
During the early part of 1993, Simpson Group was registered as a corporation in the province of Alberta and we set about the task of developing a company with a sole focus on Health insurance. It became apparent early on that there were few pioneers in the field. Over the ensuing years a niche market began to take shape, one that intertwined early group insurance interests, with the travel medical, foreign visitor, and expatriate insurance markets.
September 1996 was the incorporation date of Simpson Group Insurance Services Inc. Since this time we have continued to experience healthy growth on the Excess Medical and Specialized Product side of the business, both through a healthy stream of client referrals and by marketing our services to a growing network of insurance brokers and travel professionals. On the Employee Benefits side, we have established good relationships with our clients, developed an honest, up-front approach, and worked to deliver timely result oriented service.
Today, we work with over 20 insurance companies operating in Canada, USA and Internationally. We work with large associations and individual clients along with supporting a network of over 150 insurance brokers, consultants, travel agents and tour operators. In total, more than 5,000 clients take advantage of our services in a given year, and our specialization only continues to make us unique in the market place.
